Indecent encapsulates a world caught between the past and the present, where the weight of history meets the urgency of the present moment. As the characters navigate the precarious landscape of cultural identity and artistic expression, the attic becomes a battleground, echoing the lives of those who have sought refuge within its dilapidated walls.
The design draws inspiration from the decaying beauty of abandoned spaces, and embraces the imperfections of the attic's architecture. The walls, with their layers of peeling plaster and exposed lathe, bear the scars of time. This serves as both a testament to the passage of years and the echoes of forgotten voices. The worn and weathered wooden beams, stretch overhead, bearing witness to the unfolding drama below.
Amidst the clutter and detritus, traces of the attic's former inhabitants emerge: a forgotten photograph, an old manuscript, a discarded piece of memorabilia. These remnants of the past serve as poignant reminders of the lives that once intersected in this liminal space, each leaving a lasting mark on its history. But despite its isolation, the attic holds a palpable energy and tiptoes on the brink of transformation. Through the juxtaposition of contrasting elements – the ornate against the mundane, the past against the present – boundaries blur and identities collide.
I sought to create a space that is at once hauntingly familiar and psychically distant, inviting audiences to explore the depths of human experience and the power of resilience in the face of adversity.
